Alja Črnej, MD

MD specialized in ophthalmology and eye surgery. She successfully passed the European ophthalmology specialization in Paris in 2008. She began working as an ophthalmologist under the supervision of Dr. Vladimir Pfeifer at the Ljubljana Eye Clinic. In 2009, she worked at the Moorfields Eye Hospital in London under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Oliver Findl and Prof. Dr. Bruce Allan, while from 2012 to 2015 she was employed at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Schepens Eye Research Institute, an eye clinic and a research institute for eye diseases, operating under the auspices of Harvard University in Boston (USA). In Boston, her mentors were the founder of the first department of corneal diseases in the world, Prof. Dr. Claes H. Dohlman, and the leading researcher in the fields of dry eye and transplantation of the cornea, Prof. Dr. Reza Dana. Both hospitals Dr. Črnej worked at are among the best eye clinics in the world, where ophthalmologists from around the globe work and undergo trainings. Parallel to eye surgery, she continuously conducts researches and deals with dispensary work in the field of ​​the anterior ocular segment. At the Dr. Pfeifer Eye Surgery Center, she currently performs surgeries of the anterior segment of the eye – especially cataract surgeries, contributes to research work and regularly and actively participates in ophthalmological congresses in Slovenia and abroad.
