Specialist in ophthalmology and eye surgery. She is a student of Dr. Pfeifer and has been, for several years, performing both, general and highly complex operations in the field of ophthalmic surgery of the anterior ocular segment.
During her medical studies, she acted as a demonstrator in training younger students and wrote articles for medical journals. After her medical degree at the Ljubljana Medical Faculty, she continued her training at the Eye Clinic, and later also attended a number of foreign trainings and courses in Europe and in the US. She worked for the Eye Clinic for 13 years. There, she operated on the anterior ocular segment (cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, keratoplastics – cornea transplantation, plastic eye surgery), while the main focus of her dispensary work were contact lenses (especially keratoconus patients), glaucoma, pediatric eye diseases, as well as conservative therapy of eye diseases. In 2004, she began working at the Dr. Pfeifer Eye Surgery Center, where she continues to deal with glaucoma, cornea, cataract surgery, therapy and diagnostics in the field of macular diseases, keratoplastics, and UVA cross-linking of the cornea with keratoconus patients.
In terms of the number of eye surgeries performed, she is one of the doctors who top the segment of eye surgery in Slovenia. It has been for some years now that she performs the most cataract surgery in Slovenia, meaning more than 1,000 surgeries. By this fact, she belongs to a group of the most frequently operating surgeons (with more than 1,000 identical surgeries a year). Furthermore, she performs these surgeries with the lowest complication rate. Several times a year, she attends various ophthalmological congresses in Slovenia and abroad as a lecturer. Continuous training in Slovenia and abroad provides her with constant upgrades to her expertise in the field of ophthalmology. As a guest lecturer, Dr. Pfeifer is often invited to national and international conferences. Apart from this, she teaches surgery of the anterior ocular segment to young eye surgeons.
She spends most of her free time with her family, her husband, their three children and a dog. She is a skier, swimmer, cyclist, and a golfer and likes to sail.
