Specialist in ophthalmology and eye surgery. In 2006, he passed his ophthalmology specialization examination cum laude at the Ljubljana Eye Clinic and, in the same year, also successfully passed the European ophthalmology specialization exam and received an internationally recognized title FEBO (Fellow of European Board of Ophthalmology). He gained knowledge and experience in surgery of the anterior segment of the eye and the cataract surgery through his specialization at the Ljubljana Eye Clinic under the supervision of Dr. Pfeifer. In 2006, he also attended training in anterior ocular segment surgery at the Erlangen University Hospital. Later on, he worked as a specialist in ophthalmology and eye surgery at the Department of ophthalmology at the Maribor University Hospital, where he performed challenging surgical procedures concerning the anterior ocular segment, retinal detachment and vitreoretinal surgeries. Through his clinical practice at the Department of ophthalmology at the University Hospital in Maribor, Dr. Špička introduced several novel surgical techniques and treatment methods for eye diseases. Apart from the clinical practice, he is regularly and actively involved in national and international ophthalmological congresses.
